Rising Prices are Hurting Our Communities

Too many Iowans are doing everything right and still struggling to keep up. Paychecks haven’t kept pace with rising costs, and non-negotiable expenses like housing, healthcare, childcare, utilities, and transportation are taking a bigger piece of household budgets every year.

This is unsustainable.

When families are stretched thin, the pressure shows up everywhere: missed opportunities, delayed care, stress at home, and fewer chances to plan for the future. State policy should help relieve that pressure, not make it worse.

What I'll Fight For

In the Iowa House, I will work to:

  • Lower everyday costs for families by addressing housing affordability, healthcare access, and childcare availability

  • Grow wages and job quality, not just job counts, so work provides real stability

  • Prevent cost-shifting onto households when schools, healthcare systems, or infrastructure are underfunded

  • Modernize Iowa’s tax system so it’s working Iowans aren't paying more than the wealthy

  • Focus on long-term solutions, not short-term political wins that leave families paying the price later

Cost-of-living challenges don’t exist in isolation. Addressing them requires coordinated policy that recognizes how housing, healthcare, education, and wages all interact.
