I'll Relentlessly Fight for our Rights
A strong democracy depends on equal rights, fair elections, and the freedom for people to live their lives with dignity. In Iowa, those principles should unite us. Instead, they are increasingly being used as political weapons.
Too often, state leaders are focused on restricting rights, limiting participation, and inserting politics into personal decisions rather than addressing the real challenges families face.
As a Black gay man, I take it personally. Their bigoted approach weakens trust between all of us, divides communities, and undermines the foundations of our democracy.
I believe Iowa should be a place where everyone’s voice matters, where rights are protected, and where government serves the people, not partisan agendas.
What I'll Fight For
In the Iowa House, I will work to:
-
Protect voting rights and access, ensuring every eligible Iowan can participate freely and fairly
-
Re-instate civil rights and equal protection under the law for transgender Iowans
-
Oppose censorship and political interference in classrooms, libraries, and local communities
-
Protect personal freedom and privacy, keeping politicians out of private decisions
-
Strengthen transparency and accountability in government to rebuild public trust
Democracy works best when more voices are heard, not fewer. Protecting civil rights and democratic participation shouldn't be partisan, but the Iowa GOP would rather play politics with people's lives than address real issues. We can do better.
